If you want to sell houses, you better have sexy, attractive agents.
That is the point made by a real estate agency in Charlotte, North Carolina, in an online news report. According to Nick Peters, whose real estate firm caters to luxury homes, sexy agents indeed help in selling homes amid tough times.
Prior to the economic meltdown, it was business as usual for Peters and his wife, Miriam. But when the housing market crashed and the recession set it, moving luxury houses became very difficult. He said that it was then they decided to dress more professionally and provocatively. They hoped the change in their appearance would project success amid the tough times and encourage buyers to purchase luxury properties. Peters said the results surprised them.
“The guys started calling the women. The women, just me,” Nick said. He noted that it was people want to work with other people that they’re in all honesty attracted to. Apart from that, they also noticed that clients stopped calling “less attractive” employees of the firm.
“Traffic has increased, the clients are having a whole lot more fun, referrals are going sky high, and sales are happening,” he said. According to Nick, buyers seem to see themselves living in the property, and consequently purchasing it, if the agent that works with them is attractive.
November Walliser, who still gets calls from clients despite the current economic conditions, affirmed Nick’s claim. “Sex does sell. I mean, you look at Abercrombie & Fitch or Hollister,” the broker said.
